Iowa Gamma IS BACK!!

November 11, 2022

Brothers,

I am happy to report that after 2 years of hard work and determination, Iowa Gamma IS BACK and will officially return to chapter status on December 3rd, 2022. I am reaching out to gauge interest in a few things.

1. If you are interested in attending the initiation and banquet dinner on December 3rd, please contact the chapter's alumni chairman directly, and he can communicate more details.

2. If you cannot attend but would still like to support the chapter, please consider donating. The chapter is raising money to help members pay their membership fees, and any donation would be appreciated.

The chapter is ecstatic that they are finally set to return to full chapter status and want to thank the Iowa Gamma alumni for their continued support.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Happy Holidays from Iowa Gamma

As the holiday season approaches, we have a lot to be thankful for. We are all grateful for the opportunity to be involved in restarting the Iowa Gamma Chapter. We are thankful for our chapter brothers and alumni who are helping us with the process and are proud of what the colony has become in such a short period.

I am writing today to update you on the status of our efforts to establish a new chapter at Iowa State and to let you know how you can help with this important initiative.

Alumni Advisory Board Members Needed

I am pleased to report that Iowa State has approved Sigma Alpha Epsilon to begin the process to return to the University as a new colony. As you may be aware, SAE closed its chapter in Ames in the summer of 2015.

It is during this exciting time that our alumni brothers can be of the most significant support! As such, we would like to personally invite you to serve on the Iowa Gamma Alumni Advisory board. You do not need to be an Iowa Gamma alumnus to be involved. In fact, it is best to engage alumni from a variety of chapters and to involve friends of Iowa Gamma as well.

SAE to Return to Iowa State

11/21/19
A message from the SAE Fraternity Service Center in Evanston:

Dear Brothers,

Over the course of the last twelve months we have been working diligently with local alumni the Iowa State Administration, faculty and the IFC to seek an opportunity to recolonize the Iowa Gamma Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. In September we met with a committee considering our formal request as well as Dr. Vernon Hurte, Associate Vice President and Dean of Students and Billy Boulden, Assistant Dean of Students and Directory of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement.

We are excited and pleased to share with you that we have been given the approval to begin the process of recolonization and to seek an initial recruitment class in fall 2020. Over the course of the next semester, we will be integrated into the IFC recruitment program and be included in materials and resources supporting the recruitment process, so students will be aware of SAE as an option for Fraternity life.

We are also pleased to share with you the following sentiment expressed on behalf of the University by Billy Boulden. “The Sorority and Fraternity Community is excited to welcome Sigma Alpha Epsilon back home to Ames. Sigma Alpha Epsilon has evolved quite a bit over the last four years as a national organization. That evolution can have an immediate and direct impact on the Iowa State community. Restarting a chapter is not an easy feat, but I am confident that Sigma Alpha Epsilon will be able to identify some True Gentlemen at Iowa State. Our office looks forward to working with the Sigma Alpha Epsilon staff and alumni to ensure that a chapter is created with a strong vibrant future.”

IFC President Zach Woodbeck shared. “Sigma Alpha Epsilon has the distinct potential to make a statement in Iowa State’s Sorority and Fraternity Community. Whether it be mental health, member safety, or other aspects of fraternity, I am especially excited for SAE to set the new standard.”

Over the next few months, we will be working to identify advisors for the group, coordinate with Province Tau leadership and local alumni to begin to map processes and timelines. We will have more information to share with you in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you have questions or are interested to support these efforts we would welcome hearing from you.

There are some brothers for whom we do not have current email addresses. We would encourage you to share this message with others. Below, you will find a link to mysae.net, our membership portal where contact information can be updated.

There are many valuable opportunities ahead for SAE at Iowa State. The rising of a Phoenix chapter presents a significant chance to contribute to the Iowa State community. We look forward to your support and involvement and seeing the Iowa Gamma chapter rise above.

Fraternally,

MIKE SOPHIR

Iowa Gamma Welcomes Youth & Shelter Services to Chapter House

Iowa Gamma Welcomes Youth & Shelter Services to Chapter House

I am pleased to report that our tenant for the 2018-19 school year is Youth & Shelter Services (YSS), an Ames-based non-profit organization. YSS will use the property to house some of their clients during the upcoming year. We see this as a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the Ames community while ensuring Iowa Gamma can continue to have the financial resources necessary to maintain ownership of the property.
